My 4th grade students work on their art work with care and eagerness. As I have introduced abstraction in a different format, they are willing to give it a go but tend to be cautious. Their skill improvement is slow but marked. They encourage me to keep the lessons somewhat complex but I have to give them specific instructions on how to perform the tasks. During the Andy Warhol lesson, they initially had a hard time understanding and taking in the stark colors the artist used. But as their own Warhol-esk creations took shape, they became more brave and were very proud of their colorful portraits.
